Do these block sound between rooms?
No. The felt backing softens echo and harsh sound inside the room. They do not soundproof against neighbours, traffic or impact noise. For soundproofing, you need mineral wool insulation behind the panel.
Are they safe in bathrooms or kitchens?
Best avoided in steamy bathrooms or near cooker hobs. Fine for hallways, lounges, bedrooms, home offices, dining rooms, snugs and stairwells.
How do I cut around plug sockets and switches?
Mark the socket position on the panel back. Use a Stanley knife to score, then a fine-tooth saw or rotary tool to cut the opening. Smooth edges with sandpaper if needed. Trim around sockets is hidden by the standard faceplate.
Can I paint over them?
We don't recommend it — the timber-effect finish is sealed. Painting voids the look you bought them for. If you want a different colour, order the matching finish (Black Oak, Walnut etc).
